GM kept engineering records on each car using the number you see in this decal. The P stood for 'Proof of Concept-prototype' , 8 for year of production line build, 'Y' Corvette and 087 s/n of the unit.
Mr. Townsley,
I had a similar CPC, however I had a bad experience with the TX vehicle inspection station that scrapped it off to place the inspection sticker. I was able to dig most of it out of the garbage though and it now resides inside my driver's manual. It was gold in color vs blue like yours and had "OPR194" and a serial number on it(hard to see some of the numbers). Would you happen to know anything about the gold colored CPC stickers? 1990 vin #28, appearently the 12th Z available to the public for sale, first 16 were supposedly used for federal crash standards. My owner's manual has Jim Perkins name and phone number in it and it was painted Polo over the Red. Corvette Mike believes that this was the test vehicle for the Polo green, but no official data to show that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.
